Our journey began in 1982 when our founder, Condo Subagyo, arrived in Labuan Bajo after a long overland journey from his hometown in Purwokerto, Central Java. Captivated by the natural beauty and serene community, he settled here and joined Komodo National Park (TNK) as a ranger. For several years, he patrolled the islands, gaining intimate knowledge of the terrain, ecosystems, and marine environments.

In the mid-1980s, Condo transitioned to diving, exploring and naming many of the now-iconic sites in the park—such as Batu Bolong, Taka Makassar, and others. He collaborated with conservation organizations, media outlets like National Geographic, The Nature Conservancy, WWF, and Discovery Channel, as well as tourism partners, helping introduce the wonders of Komodo to the world.

In 1987, he began guiding dives professionally. By 1997, he founded CNDIVE Komodo (pronounced “See-and Dive Komodo”), a name inspired by “See, Sea, and Dive”—reflecting our passion for observing and experiencing the ocean. The “CND” also nods to environmental care, echoing the spirit of conservation movements from that era.

Today, Condo remains actively involved, bringing over 30 years of experience and thousands of dives to every trip. We take quiet pride in having contributed to popularizing sites like Pink Beach and Padar Island (featured on Indonesia’s Rp50,000 note).
